The Space Between examines the effects of Japanese colonialism and the Korean War on the artists of the Korean Peninsula between 1897 and 1965. The exhibition discusses how artists both absorbed and resisted foreign influences in materials, style and subject as they sought to establish a Modern Korean art and identity. Many of the photographs, oil and ink paintings, and sculptures have never been seen in the United States.
