Learning to Look

In this introductory tour, students hone observation skills as they discover ways to look at art and “read” the colors, textures, patterns, and shapes of a visual language. Based on their observations, students learn to construct meaning by examining the many decisions and visual strategies involved in creating works of art. Oral presentation skills are also practiced. This tour is aligned with state content standards for language arts (listening and speaking) and visual arts standards for grades 1 through 5 and history/social science for grades 1 through 3.
